BeWell Innovations was founded in 2010 to address the need for accumulating patient data at a single location and digitizing it to help healthcare entities serve patients effectively. Today, as a fast-growing Belgian e-health and medtech company, BeWell Innovations specializes in connected medical technology for patient self-testing and telemonitoring, and is automating the patient journey with its GDPR compliant digital patient tracking platform. The platform is helping healthcare centers to deliver affordable quality care at the campus or remotely with integrated care paths while ensuring a more patient-centric and physician-driven approach. “Our platform includes a kiosk interface for patient self-testing, telemonitoring, and dashboard for every phase of the patient journey. It captures data in an automated and structured way,” says Alain Mampuya, CEO of BeWell Innovations.
The company’s CE-marked self-test kiosk allows patients to perform a validated and autonomous intake of vital parameters and questionnaires through a few steps and without any assistance from hospital staff. It automatically enters the captured data into the EMR in real-time, makes it ready for physician assessment, and eliminates the need for manual data entry by the hospital staff. This automated patient intake procedure decreases the repetitive tasks such as maintaining records while enabling nurses to save a significant amount of time. This also results in quicker consultation with less waiting room time and enhances patient engagement. Further, the award-winning patient self-test kiosk has early warning score and distance temperature measurement features for emergency departments that facilitate semi-automated triage.
On the telehealth front, BeWell Innovations’ remote monitoring app enables physicians to keep track of patients with chronic conditions remotely by accessing the patient data and act proactively during a critical situation.
Leveraging a dashboard, physicians can streamline the patient follow-up process. They can respond, act, and react promptly without sifting through multiple places. In Belgium, BeWell Innovations is one of the government-recommended telemonitoring solutions provider. As such, by bridging the physical distance between patients and care teams, BeWell Innovations ensures a continuous care delivery to patients at hospitals as well as remotely.
Continuously modifying the ways to enhance patient journey based on clients’ requests and feedback, BeWell Innovations has helped many government hospitals, major academic hospitals, peripheral hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies serve their patients and customers efficiently. In an instance, the company helped a large academic center that was struggling to digitize patient data cross-departmentally. Using BeWell Innovations’ platform, the client was able to follow-up patients in a single sign-on environment while connecting patient data flawlessly to the EMR. As a result, the platform assisted the client in improving their patients’ experience.
In another example, BeWell Innovations helped a client in identifying a pain-pump flaw by capturing data from patients in remote settings. Physicians were prescribing a pain-pump to Pectus excavatum patients to relieve their pain after surgery in the home setting. The pump was effective only for a day or two that made patients revert to heavy pain-medication. Utilizing BeWell Innovations platform’s remote module for monitoring these patients, physicians identified a flaw in the pain pump firmware. Subsequently, the malfunction of the pump was addressed that ensured quicker recovery with lesser medication.
Backed by the prowess of many such success stories, BeWell Innovations has developed more than 100 simple and complex care paths over the years and recently launched a video consultation module and a module that enables healthcare providers to create their own care paths. Looking ahead, the company is on a mission of expanding its footprints to other European countries. BeWell Innovations intends to integrate with the well-accepted concept, apps, or devices in the market. Instead of competing with other players, the company believes in togetherness to innovate better solutions to the healthcare industry for streamlining the patient journey. The company IS ALSO extensively supporting the crusade against the COVID-19 pandemic by allowing patients to carry out a first primary screening without any complexity. “It is a challenge today to offer quality care to people in remote locations and we take pride in successfully accepting the challenge,” concludes Mampuya.
